Time Tip 30 – Cut Your Time To Get Things Done

How Long do Tasks Take You?

I have found that I tend to allow myself extra time to do certain tasks – then they often take even longer than they should do.

Generally, there are three reasons:

  • Parkinson’s Law – “work expand so as to fill the time available for it’s completion.”
  • Procrastination – is the avoidance of doing a task which needs to be accomplished.
  • Structure – working for yourself or on your own has a structure that lacks accountability.

Solution

  • Cut the time available to complete the task – put yourself under a little pressure.
  • Don’t avoid doing tasks – Just Do Them!
  • Schedule specific time in your diary to do tasks – and carry out weekly reviews of what you have achieved and what you need to achieve.
  • Stop Thinking so much about Doing things and Start Doing them.

Have a great day.
